Getting out of your own way to reach your full potential

The downfall of our success is becoming our own worst enemy.
If you own your own business, or if you are a highly motivated individual on your own career path, you typically don’t need outside motivators to keep you going. You are constantly evolving and constantly learning to keep growing personally and professionally.
We have BIGGER goals than most.
We believe in an exponential mindset.
We believe being a lifelong learner is the key to success.
Nothing really can stop us.
We understand that despite adversity or external circumstances, we will keep fighting to get what we want out of life.
However, there is ONE thing that can stop us. And that’s ourselves.
Typically with self-motivated individuals, we aren’t looking for outside help or wanting to copy the path of our mentors. We look for help and guidance only to help us find our own way. What eventually stops us or keeps us from succeeding is truly ourselves.
So how does one overcome being their own worst enemy?
Here are some things to change in order to keep succeeding despite your mind resisting sometimes.
- Your mindset. Constantly working on your mindset is going to be key. It’s EASY to learn HOW to do things whether that is selling better, marketing better, being a better speaker etc. Those lessons only get you so far. To push yourself further, mindset work is key. Things like journaling, meditation, therapy or even looking into performance, life and mindset coaching is key.
- Your health. For me, this is key. When I am taking charge of my health and treating my body well, it shows up in ALL areas of my life. I make more money in my coaching business when I am taking the time to exercise, eat better and be there for my body. Think of showing up in your business or as an employee as a performance. We need to fuel that performance optimally. Exercise and working out also help our mind and reduce things like anxiety and depression. It helps with our overall mindset and the way we think and even the way we sleep to recharge at night.
- Accountability partners, mentors & community - This is key as well. Being on a path to greatness is lonely, especially if your family and friends don’t understand or align with what you are constantly working towards. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people is key to continue on when the days get rough. There are many groups online and in person in Northwest Indiana that are people just like you. I found my community online initially and have met some of my best friends there. Being in person with people who are just like you is beyond beneficial.
A final message to you - you are capable of so much and once you realize that you are the one fully responsible for your own success is the moment success is ultimately yours. Time, external circumstances and anything else supposedly standing in your way is not keeping you stuck. If you ultimately want to achieve a goal, there are many ways to do it and you have to find the path that will get you there.
